This summer, Golf Tourism England had the pleasure of hosting six leading golf tour operators from the United States on an unforgettable journey through the Southwest of England. Blessed with sunshine worthy of the Caribbean, our guests enjoyed an exceptional itinerary that showcased the very best of the region’s golfing gems — Burnham & Berrow, Royal North Devon, Saunton, St. Enodoc, Trevose, and Perranporth.
While the Southwest may lack an Open Championship venue, its links courses rival the finest anywhere in the British Isles and Ireland. Sweeping coastal views, dramatic dunes, and impeccably maintained fairways left our American friends in awe — and the warmth of the welcomes matched the beauty of the scenery.
Beyond the golf, the Southwest charms with its outstanding hospitality and culinary scene. Our group stayed at Cadbury House, Saunton Sands, and The Headland in Newquay, each delivering impeccable service and unforgettable ocean views. Waking up to the Atlantic’s shimmering horizon is an experience that lingers long after the trip ends.
Dining was equally memorable, with the region’s celebrated gastronomy taking centre stage — from freshly caught seafood to world-class dining from celebrity chefs, including Rick Stein’s iconic restaurants in Padstow.
The Southwest also offers something truly unique: a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere where golfers and surfers share the coastline in perfect harmony. Its distinctive light, fresh sea air, and artistic spirit create an irresistible setting that keeps visitors coming back.
For many in our group, this was their first time playing these courses — and the delight of discovering one exceptional experience after another made for a truly special trip. With every round, every meal, and every coastal sunset, the Southwest proved itself a golfer’s paradise and a place you never tire of visiting.
It’s not just a destination — it’s a happy place.
